About the Property

This gorgeous property of undulating hills of prime pasture has been developed from scratch over the past 11 years, after having been subdivided pasture from a larger property. The luxury homestead is an architectural masterpiece with magnificent views from every window.  This dream home has a Private Luxury Suite at each end, each with it's own private entry, while Julie lives in the center of the home.

The second house is a Luxury Farmstay House which is ideal for families or groups traveling together for a perfect getaway.

The farm itself is Julie's pride and joy, as are its gorgeous Scottish Highland Cattle, alpacas and chickens.  The prime pasture on the property is ideal for feeding and breeding very healthy animals in a stress free environment. The Highlands are of such good nature, your able to walk amongst, brush and photograph them and their gorgeous calves when you take a farm tour with Julie.

About Julie

Having spent 28 years in an office managing a very busy business, Julie now enjoys the opportunity to manage Highland Getaway, meeting people face to face and sharing her home and passion for the Huon Valley and her amazing animals.

Julie’s childhood dream to have her own zoo and become a vet, has been reignited with her passion for her animals and the need to learn about animal behaviour and their needs. This city girl has flourished as a host and a farmer and is loving sharing her passion and newfound knowledge.

Review

Imagine a beautiful place, where the only sounds are birdsong, a distant river, wind sighs and your heart telling you to stay here forever.

Imagine staying in a luxurious suite on the flanks of the Huon River; within easy reach of Huonville with its amenities and shops but far enough away to have panoramic views of rolling countryside and perfect peace whilst enjoying your exclusive hot tub spa or private cinema, while easing your cares away.

Go on a fascinating farm tour to meet the docile Highland cattle, feed the alpacas and chickens whilst learning first-hand about Tassie’s rural life. Imagine a perfectly provided breakfast and the chance to BBQ your perfect steak under a star-filled sky.

We stayed at Highland Getaway, should have stayed longer, spoilt rotten by Julie and it really should be on your bucket list as a Tasmanian ‘must do’.  But don’t just imagine. Experience one of the best stays of your life.  We did.
